« on: July 02, 2010, 03:19:45 am »
Hi every one in your opinion what do you think the best saw on the market is, I know everyone will probably say the one that they own, or , or,or,
Most of you know I had a ryobi [second hand] cheap as, i got the bug moved up o the best available down under and that is where I am now
I have a Excalibur and it is  great and that is all I can say as i don't know if there is a better saw
Think and lets know and why

Hi Janet your appeal for help for MIL was justified and I'm pleased that you reiceved good advice, we are all getting older and in some cases like my self, we will probably need assistance at some stage of the journy of life, and it is nice to know you are doing the right thing by your MIL.
I try to joke a bit about my wife and I by trying to lift our spirits on old age but one can not deny the fact that it will happen to all of us at some stage.
But it is great to be alive and doing what we like best

General Scroll Saw Talk / Opinions please

Here are two back boards I have dyed, they are layered on to give a multi color effect, I have layed the sawn pieces on top, I am not keen on block colors and thought these may look better.
They are not finished as you may see some fluffies

The Coffee Shop / Steves work shop
« on: June 25, 2010, 09:02:50 pm »
Have just read Steve's latest work shop and am surprised that a few people from other countries take offence at some of the FREE patterns availble, I am a New Zealander and am proud of it but I surely do not take any offence when a pattern is posted FREE about America, if one does not like it DELETE IT
Thats all I will say on the matter
Thank you very much Steve For your kind generosity

What sort of sand paper does every one use? I use alumium oxcide, I find it is sharp and if all the grades are used you get no scratch marks, I have also used pink chapagne but find it is to dear.

General Scroll Saw Talk / Dust
« on: June 22, 2010, 03:33:33 am »
The the new saw I have bought does not have a dust extracter port and I found dust was every where down my trousers all over the floor and the work shop so I have made an extraction box that has a vac plugged into it, the base id screwed to the stand nad the sides and front are removable, they are held by a hole I have drilled and an nail inserted on the left hand side, if you are haveinfg a dust problem try it it cost nothing to make only a small amount of time, here are couple of pics

General Scroll Saw Talk / Steve's audio
« on: June 22, 2010, 03:22:11 am »
I hope members listened to your remarks on marketing thier stuff at fairs or where ever, most people are
looking for a bargain at these show BUT if you have what they want they will pay the $$, most of my shows fall pre christmas so I have to look at stuff suitable for gifts and people are looking more at the cheaper things.
Position is also a factor at fairs I have the same spot at every fair I go to every year this way people know where to find me, if you are at an inside venue always try to get the position on the left side of the hall, about  5 stalls in, this is always the best spot in this situation, my prices range from $2 to $70 and I sell more of the lower priced items, my average sale on a good day is $35 per customer,
I have enclosed a couple of pics from our clubs annual exabition and sales month

Here is my version of the oven tray tool, and I suppose there are alot more, I had thought of putting somthing on the handle but that adds to the price, it would make it more atractive as a gift.
