(3rd or 4th try at posting this, maybe it wasn't meant to be. :)

Been cutting this on and off for a couple of weeks and finally finished today. Cheap 6mm plywood, 13.75" long by about half that in height. I'm not very happy with it, but I learned quite a lot while I was cutting it.

No idea where I got the pattern. Possibly an SG pattern? I printed it out what seems ages ago and just got around to cutting it. 10mm external ply.

edit: Thanks to Randy (hotshot) for supplying a link to the pattern.

Why spend ?2.99 for a Woodcraft kit that you can put together in 15 minutes when you can spend all afternoon making one.   ;D

5mm MDF stack cut. Thank you to EIEIO once again for the pattern. Hopefully that's the Star Trek fans around here sorted out at last.

My wife asked if I could make something for her friend's birthday. She plays guitar in a rock duo, so I dug out a recent SG pattern and cut it this evening. Cheap 10mm ply with voids all over the place, but luckily only one tiny hole showed up on the outside

Brag Forum / Kirk and Spock together
« on: October 19, 2013, 02:09:40 pm »
I thought they looked better together. :) Spock has been posted before from EIEIO's pattern. Kirk is from my own pattern. Slight slip on his right eye, but I hope it hasn't spoiled it too much.

Pattern Requests. / Captain Kirk to go with EIEIO's Spock
« on: October 17, 2013, 04:38:35 am »
My o/h keeps asking when I am going to do a Captain Kirk to complement the Spock one, if anyone would care to oblige.

I always try to make a pattern myself before requesting but portraits have me beat, no matter how often I try.

Pattern Requests. / plain rectangular box pattern?
« on: October 09, 2013, 09:45:04 am »
I am wanting to make a box - never made one before - that's just a plain rectangle with either hinged lid or lift off lid, about 6"L x 3"W X 3"H. I intend cutting some 1/8" Birch for the sides and top with space related motifs such as Saturn, Jupiter, Moon, etc. Could anyone possibly point me to a basic box pattern that I can easily make on the scroll saw as it's the only woodworking tool I have. Needs to be easy and quick as it's her birthday on Saturday. :)
Thanks,
Martin.

edit: I made one. Fits together like I cut it with a knife and fork.  ;D

Pattern Requests. / Looking for patterns of static steam engines
« on: September 16, 2013, 11:32:35 am »
I think the only one I have seen so far is the hit and miss engine on here, but no pattern and the pic is corrupt when I try to download it. Can anyone help out? I am looking in particular for a beam engine such as these: http://tinyurl.com/koupnyt

BTW, the green and red ones in the first couple of rows are a plastic Airfix kit. I have one about 3/4 finished.

Thanks,
Martin.

I decided to have a look back tonight but I see in the oldest posts it says something like attachment deleted by admin. I could make a couple of educated guesses as to the reason but thought I may as well just ask why. :)

Brag Forum / Happy On Two Wheels - SG pattern

Being a lifelong biker, especially on customised bikes, I couldn't resist having a go at this. It's certainly different to cutting portrait style where it doesn't matter too much if you go off line. The lettering is OK if you squint a bit.  ;D
