Brag Forum / half barrel display
« on: June 05, 2013, 04:57:47 pm »
Two Photos of a shell I made and you have already seen, I have just used it to showcase the half barrel mirror display.

The end caps are 3/8 poplar and the slats that make up the half barrel are pine.  I got the mirror from Pat Catans and it is one of those flexible plastic mirrors.  The inside is 6 in tall by 5 inches wide.

I think it will be a good little display for 3d objects but of course time will tell.

Brag Forum / 5 Scallop Cedar Bowl
« on: May 10, 2013, 05:36:02 am »
Cut from a rescued cedar plank that had been outside for a number of years in a dilapidated barn it originally was 10 feet long and 14 inches across and 1 inch in thickness.  It was badly warped and after planing it down it became just 5/8 of an inch thick but the grain was spectacular. This bow is about 7 1/2 inches in diameter and about 3 1/8 inches tall.  Sealed with tung oil and then top coated with satin lacquer.

I designed these salt and pepper shakers to be 2 1/4 inches square by 4 inches tall.  The woods used are Sapele ( an african wood that looks a lot like Mahogany ) and Holly.  The shakers were sealed with teak oil and then shellacked.  The S and the P have been inset.
