Title: Delta 40-690 MODS
Post by: Retired Coastie on February 29, 2012, 01:48:18 pm
These are a few mods I made to my new saw. I added a magnifier with a magnetic base and LED lights from rockler and the bracket I made in the shop from 1/8" steel flat stock. The second is I used the rear leg of the stand for a wire chase. I bundled the excess cord with velcro cord tammers, a 3 outlet heavy duty plug the used a piece of 1/4" plywood with 3/8 rubber fuel line that's split and slipped onto the plywood. The plywood is cut just under the opening width and the rubber hose acts as a friction holder and keeps the plywood in place. This keeps all the coard out of the way.
Thanks for viewing!

good idea to keep the cables out of the way and tidy like that, and from what I can see, nice workshop too.

I like your idea to keep the cords all in on space.  One problem tho, where is the saw dust ;D

Couple of nice ideas there.

Gotta ask the same question - why no sawdust in a shop?   Really good dust collections system?

Have a great time with it all.

No Dust in Shop is because he is Retired Coastie - they are trained to clean up after themselves.  ::) ::)

Sorry guys I feel so ashamed. Next time I'll leave the sawdust down until after the pics. I'm actually working on a dust collector attachment for the bottom of the saw.

Here is the latest mod. A semi workable dust collector attachment. It gets some of the dust but not all of it. I may have to tweak it a bit. The bracket is made from .025 aluminum painted flat black and attached collector fitting with pop rivets then attached to saw with existing saw mount bolts.

Hey Coastie, Here's what I did for dust collection. Keep in mind I am more concerned with collecting the airborne dust and this does a great job. It is connected to a full size dust collector.

looks like a good dust extraction system, does it get all the dust?

It defiantly gets all the airborne dust, but some dust does settle on the floor and the base of the saw.

Dan that's a great idea, I may have to steal it from you.
