...with the new Delta 40-690. This thing definitely handles different than my Porter Cable saw did! Gonna take some gettin' used to!
I thought Steve's Scrollman pattern would be fun to do for a first project on the new saw. This is simply glued together. Hasn't been sanded yet. I just might paint it for the fun of it.
BTW, anyone want to buy a used Porter Cable Scroll Saw?!
;D

looks great nice cutting thanks for sharing

Very nice Glenn! A little paint on it will look good. Make sure you paint the saw Delta blue!
I see you use Aleen's tacky glue. Good stuff!
A couple of tips to help with your new saw. If the table is not smooth, sand it down with a sanding block with 220 grit sand paper and WD40 as a lubricant. After you get it as smooth as you want it, remove the WD40 with mineral spit its. Then give it a good coat of paste wax. Make sure it does not contain any silicone. I'm sure you have already removed the hold down foot. Also, there is a guard in front of the lower blade clamp, Remove it as it just gets in the way.
Good luck and have fun with your new saw!
P.S. Hold on to your old saw for when you become an instructor!

certainly a nice job cutting that pattern, looks like you will be enjoying your new saw for a very long time.

Thanks everybody! Going to practice as much as I can (get away with ;))
@Dan Once I got everything adjusted, I removed the table and sanded with wet/dry sandpaper and WD40 all the way to 1500 grit. Then 4 coats of Johnson's paste wax. It's nice and shiny now! And yes, both upper and lower guards are packed away for safe keeping! Also replaced the lousy 25W bulb with a 60W (equivalent) CFL --much brighter! As for the old saw, space is at a premium in my little shed/shop, plus the Mrs. wanted (insisted) I get rid of the old if I'm bringing in new -- she hates clutter!! Thanks for the tips - I've been paying attention all along! ;)

You just jumped right in and did a GOODIE!
Well Done!
Congrats but I noticed that you have become a "Top Feeder"...You can bottom feed on that saw too, if you have to!

I know THIS feeling....
Very nice job on the scroller. I too, removed the guards, albeit I have the DeWalt version.
Enjoy the new saw, it is a big improvement.
