Title: Done-LED Clock--modified Steve's clock
Post by: saw dust john on February 02, 2012, 08:34:49 pm
I wanted a clock that I could see in a very dark area.  Couldn't find a lit clock, so I had to make my own.
here is the result.

The pix on the left is not lit-that is sunlight on it.
the pix on the right is lit.

I am pretty pleased with it.

I brought the leds (3 to a strip) from a motorcycle place (custom dynamics).
Brought a tranformer from local electric store to go from AC to DC.
and brought a in-line switch.

I wasn't going to use a in-line switch I was just going to leave it on all the time until I did the math and didn't want to replace the leds after a year (10,000 hours).

The hood over the clock allowed me to dig out the back of the hood in order to hide the LEDs.  I ran the wire through a drilled hole in the back.
