Good morning, I am brand new to this forum and I am hoping someone can shed some light on my problem with my dewalt type 2. I have had the saw (purchased new) for about 8 months and just yesterday this problem started. I have been reading the posts regarding knocking problems on the 788 but none seem to address the problem I am experiencing.
The problem is that the saw cuts perfectly with no knocking when I am cutting cross grain. As soon as a start a cut with the grain the saw starts to knock terribly. I have tried adjusting blade tension from 3 to max with no success.
I have checked blade alignment and the blade is 90 degrees to the cut.
Different types and thickness's of wood do not seem to make any difference.
I have been using #3 and #5 FD blades, in wood thickness's between 1/4 and 1/2 inch.
Any ideas or suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for reading and
have a great day.

Hi bill, Welcome to the forum! For the knocking go to Rick Hutcheson's site at http://www.scrollsaws.com/ . On the left side look for saw reviews, then scrolll down to DeWalt tune up. It explains how to fix the problem. But before you do you might call DeWalt customer service as the saw should still be under warranty.
Go over to the introduction page and introduce yourself so we can welcome you properly!

dgman, thanks for the information regarding Rick's site. I printed the instructions and just completed the adjustments recommended and to my great delight the DW appears to be working great once more.
Again, thanks for your reply and have a great day.
