Recently I saw at a booth at a craft show, a lady had done some puzzles scrolled with fabric for the picture.
The fabric must have been soaked in something to make it hard and then glued to the wood?
Any one know how this is done?
She was very busy and I did not have the chance to talk with her.
I found these to be very interesting.

In a 'previous' life I hung 'wall coverings' for many years.
Fabrics can be hung on walls but they were very difficult since they tend to 'stretch'.
Thinking about your idea I came up with the following:
1. Prime the wood or MDF substrate with a coat of Oil Based primer/sealer.
2. Use a mixture of a casein based glue, like Alene's or Elmer's and water mixed about half and half.
3. Coat the wood or MDF lightly with the above mixture .
4. Gently lay your fabric on the substrate and smooth out any wrinkles or 'bubbles' so that the fabric is perfectly flat.
5. Allow to dry completely for a couple days.
6. Carefully apply several coats of spray acrylic (like Krylon) to the fabric and allow to dry fully between coats.
To cut I would use the Blue Painters's tape (the thin stuff marked 'delicate') or the Green "Frog" tape over the fabric and apply the pattern and then the packing tape.
No I have never tried it but this would be the way I would handle it.

I'll have to give that a try, experimenting makes it fun for me. If I can get it right I will try to post pic.
