Post by: Marcellarius on December 30, 2011, 09:48:24 am
In the praktiker store I saw a Peugeot scrollsaw 400V
couldn't find it on the web shop but in an other web shop I saw it.
thought they only made cars....... 8)

does anyone know this brand and saw?
it looked quit heavy and was cheap. (about $330)
didn't saw a quick release on the front....

That looks like the Hitachai CW40 and the newer PorterCable that sells at Lowes for $169 including stand.

It is also IDENTICAL to the older Craftsman that I had...used for a year, sold it and the man who bought it told me it lasted for exactly 14 days and completely died.

I think it is an Asian saw that is marketed under many names.

I think GB is right, but I like the color scheme of this one more then the porter-cable.

Also note the weight...20 kg = aprox. 44#'s and that is NOT heavy. I bet it is all Aluminum and if the table is anything like my old Craftsman it is ROUGH! I practically wore out a ROS sander trying to get it slick enough to slide freely.

Drapes and curtains???????

Hi! I?v got the same saw but the brand name is Rexon. I Think they took it over from peugoet. I Find it noisy and ther is a lot of blade deflecion caused by the wobbely lower arm. and it is very difficult to feed the blades through inside holes on larger projects. Saying that i find for a beginner it cuts well and will do untill you get some practice and find out what blades you want to use and what sort of scrolling you will be doing. For something with lots of inside cuts it will take a lot of patience.

Marcel, are you looking for another saw?

Have a look at ebay and buy a used Hegner.
Some have high expectations (mostly for direct buy), but auctions are mostly ended on a valuable price (200 - 300 Euro).

now not looking, I have a great Hegner.
but when visiting a new store I always check out the hardware.
somewhere/sometimes in my head I have the idea of giving workshops in scrolling and it's coming back every time.
so I always look at new stuff. probably when I will  take the step of giving workshops in scrolling I only would have Hegners....
for now it's to far away I guess.
