Hey folks,
I used Torstens advice (http://stevedgood.com/community/index.php?topic=8028.0) and went to the Pratiker store in Germany (http://www.praktiker-markt.de/pb/site/praktiker/node/324680/Lde/index.html) today.
bought me some thin BB plywood 2,5/64 and 5/64 (1mm and 2mm). about 19,7"x27,5" (50x70 cm)
it has a great grain and has almost a shiny gloss.
cant wait to make some stuff of it.

Sounds like Good Type of Wood. Let us know how it cuts. Gee I sure wished I could drive to another country and shop. LOL Could drive to Tennessee. LOL
Danny :+)

What do you plan on making with the really thin material? I have seen some pretty thin stuff in the craft stores around here, I think you could cut it with a sissors.
-
I get 2mm marine ply and I love it. Its great for portraits that are being framed and I made some book marks last year. Great stuff.

the 2mm I will use for ornaments. my wife likes the thin wood.
the 1mm i bought for trying and experimenting.
will try to satck maybe. will see, guess bookmarks will be one idea.
-
You will love it. The quality is way above the normal ply's.
You should stack cut. this thin wood has no resistance otherwise. I already stacked up to 10 layers of the 1mm ply, cuts nice.

Last time I tried to drive to Germany my car kept flooding just a little east of New York City! ;D
-
Dan, you've got the wrong car for that. Take This one (http://www.binscorner.com/pages/s/squba-worlds-first-swimming-car.html).
But even if you retired ones like to take a ride "to get to see some", it's easier to just check for "Airplane ply" around your area.
-
the 1mm is thin enough to send by mail, in that case you can call it fly-wood..... ::)
;D :D ;D

That's true - an old lady told me that too. She bought like a dozen of ornaments to add them to her Christmas cards.
I have never thought of that idea.

I did make some cards with a 3mm (http://stevedgood.com/community/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=8398.0;attach=11001;image) ply and that was a bit thick.

That looks mighty fine!
-
Nice work there
-
also - I just took a round in sheila's web shop: Sheila's Candle Holder animal patterns (http://www.sheilalandrydesigns.com/category/lights-candle-holders/candle-holders)
I guess they look fine when mounted at a round candle base. the thin ply will take the bending pretty well.
-
great idea, bending around a round base. might try that.
pretty designs from Sheila BTW!

I've used the thinner plywoods to make some earrings with.
