Finally finished it! I started cutting this almost two months ago, but because life got in the way, I could only cut for a couple hours here and there. Somewhere between 25 and 30 hours of work on this. This will be a Christmas present for my folks. Taking it in today to have it professionally framed. It's cut in 1/4" oak ply with a black felt backer. Went through a couple dozen FD New spiral 2/0 blades cutting this. The pattern is from Mike Williams.
In another thread, Malc brought up the question of whether an expensive saw is worth it to those of us who do this as a more casual hobby. I cut this using a Porter Cable scroll saw, the one sold at Lowe's. Although I don't know if I could have cut it any better with a nicer saw, I'm certain it would have been easier! Bottom feeding all those holes, many of which are barely bigger than the blade kerf, made this a tedious project. But, I got through it and here are the results.

That is AWESOME!
I looked at that pattern and decided to wait til after the holidays to attempt it.
Don't you really enjoy doing those? You start out and it just seems so darn tedious and then you turn it over and the picture is starting to take shape and you just don't want to quit cutting.
Beautiful job!!!

Thank you everyone for the great comments! This was definitely a labor of love! Well worth the effort, and I can't wait to see my parents' faces when they open it!
@newfie Todd, the finished size is 11"X14".
@Charlie Dearing Yes, Mike has very many highly detailed patterns! Many of which I would be afraid to attempt for fear that my saw would vibrate them apart! Next up is one or your patterns I purchased to cut for the inlaws. Wish me luck!

I know how you feel feeding the blade up through those small holes then fitting the adaptor on with a hex key then tensioning the blade before cutting, you said it was tedious but I wouldn't have been so polite lol. The most cuts like that I have made was 50and that was bad enough with all the bottom feeding. I think you have a great deal of patience, and have turned out an excellent piece of work - congratulations

Absolutely amazing! Wauw was my first reaction. Great job thanks for sharing.

Fantastic, beautiful, and great cutting. That pattern is lined up to be my second job after I finish Christmas. Really, you did good, grasshopper...

Awesome!!!!!!!!!! I cut an owl several years ago that took 60 hours to cut. Having the ability to easily get to those gazillion tiny holes made all the difference.
