I have a 2 year old Great Grand Son. I want to make him a puzzel for Christmas. I know it is late, but I would like to try to make it. I have never made puzzels so simple is nice.
Thanks
Gary

what kind of puzzle do you want ? does he like animals, airplanes, trucks, cars ?. you would do better if you told us what you wanted so we could design something.

I have made several easy jigsaw type puzzles with coloring book pages. Glue the page (or trace it) to the wood, paint it, then cut out the puzzle. Leaving a border and gluing it to a base is a good way to make a tray puzzle. It is a good way to make a puzzle with popular cartoons.

Make an animal puzzle from 3/4" beech wood. Cut it with a FD-SR#5 or any #7.
The beech wood is hard and will not break as he will not only puzzle with the wood parts. The puzzle parts must not fit too tight, as he will have problems dismounting it. I'm cutting the joints also with a FD-SR#5.
Make sure your saw is set square before cutting any.
