Some evening when you have a spare moment, get out your old
checkbook registers and read through the entries. You may find it
interesting and perhaps somewhat startling, to discover just how the
money you've earned has been spent.
The entries will read like a family history book. They chronicle every
major event----births, deaths, and illnesses--and quite accurately reflect
your tastes, habits, and interests.
They record your vacations, travels, and other moves. They also tell
much about how expensively you dress or how extravagantly you eat.
The total spent in each category will pinpoint the things that make the
greatest demands on your income--either because of need or by choice.
This was very interesting to me, so I looked thru a couple check registers.
Very much a eye opener.... Danny :+}

You sure have been introspective here lately Danny. Is it just the season or is something else going on?

My wife keeps a register (diary) of our spending every year as a matter of habit. She has been doing this for more than 35 years and starts a new one every January.
If the subject of how old the lawnmower is, she can look it up, tell you when we bought it, how much we paid for it and the serial number on it! :o
I have learned NOT to estimate how old something is or what the price was when it was purchased if she questions my memory on something. I bow to the BOOK. :-[
When I was racing Go-Karts back in the '80s I won the points championship one year. I was showing her my trophy and she commented that it was a very expensive dust collector. After dragging out her book she showed me that the trophy had really cost me $10,000.00!!! :o ::) :o ;D
But, you are right, it can be a very interesting read sometimes. ;D

I've looked through old registers and all they show me is how much power, water and fuel have gone up over the years!

Yep, it sure is. ;) I was getting 110 MPH out of a 100cc motor on the straight away on the right track. We raced on a minimum of 1-1/2 mile road course tracks for one hour per race. It was a real BLAST! :)

When you file your income taxes at the end of the year do you ever wonder where all that money went? ;D
The BOOK will tell you. ::) :o
