Wow. Not that I want and or can afford turf.. but that's wild none the less..

is this US? Could have been Germany. There are quite a lot regulations in some towns here - some are even told how the house has to look like (color, form, windows, roof, ...).

That can apply within some subdivisions that have deed restrictions that are stated and read to the purchaser who has to agree to them as part of the purchase of a home in that subdivision. Some areas form a home owners association in a neighborhood and can band together and set rules of the same type.

Apparently this was due to unsafe levels of dangerous chemicals and it sounded somewhat lame in that they "had concerns", that isn't the same as knowing there was a problem in fact! And no response if the turf was used in the back yard. Sounds bogus to me!
