I have finally found a white wood that I love and its American Rock Maple. I stopped using white or whiteish wood a long time ago because after oiling etc. it never looked the way I wanted it too but the Maple is great. Thanks America. :-*

Hi Marg.... Finally someone that just can not get a white wood like the Baltic Birch to look good. I have given up on that species for say Christmas Ornaments. I just finished cuting stack of 4 using Maple 1/8 Ply. They look Great. Used a combo of BLO and spirits half n half (Dans mixture) and the grain looks great and there is even a slight shine. Later.... Danny :+}

Hey Marg,
I get my timber from J&C Thin Timbers in Qld, they cater for the thicknesses a scroller needs. They have Rock Maple too, so I might order a piece and give it a try.

we have a woodsmith here in Iowa. I wonder if they are the same. I am going to Des Moines next week and I will find out. Thanks Marg.
