Title: Wood samples from Woodworkers Source.
Post by: Bill P on September 28, 2011, 08:56:42 pm
I just got the sample pack from Woodworkers Source.  It?s great.

It includes 30 samples of wood, measuring 3x6x.5 each, as well as a ?species guide? book.

The samples are (in no particular order): poplar, hard maple, birch, alder, ash, basswood, beach, cedar, cherry, cypress, hickory, madrone, soft maple, red oak, white oak, ponderosa pine, black walnut, afromosia, bloodwood, bubinga, cedrillo, Australian sassafras, iroko, jatoba (Brazilian cherry), mahogany, African padauk, purpleheart, Brazilian satinwood, sapele, and zebrawood.

Each sample is labeled.  The cardboard box has enough room for about 8 more pieces of the same size, so I ordered a sample of rosewood from another source, which I'll cut to size, label, and add to the collection.

I'm very pleased!

Cool Bill. Remember that some woods will change color over time, so keep them in the box away from any light.

:D  Well, I never thought of myself as rich before, but...well...okay.

When I sell something, I put 50% back into the wood and set the other 50% aside for blades, tools, etc.  The samples are part of "etc."

My long-term goal is to have a hobby that pays for itself when I retire.  I used to golf, but gave up the dream that someone would pay me to do that.  Now it just down to scrolling and sex, but Lisa said she might stop paying me for that.

Got to let you off the hook Bill,
She leaves pocket change under the dirty dishes, the laundry, the mussed bed, In corners under lint kitties, all you have to do is take care of them and you find the money, you do have to be careful vacuuming though!
