Title: Hi from good ol germany
Post by: howard2k7 on August 26, 2011, 01:07:20 pm
Hi Folks,

i am 30 from germany and new to this scroll saw. I am not that new to working with wood and other materials making all kind of stuff but more functional items and not really art or deco kind of things. The only deco items i made where my carvings when i am out in the woods, which happens quite often. I like beeing out for the weekend sleeping in my hammock, cooking my food on the hobo stove and carving in front of the fire watching the stars...

I just bought my saw a week ago to cut out my slingshot patterns. I then browsed the net to find some infos on which blades to use and stuff when i found the scrollsaw workshop on youtube. I checked out the blog and was fascinated how many things you can do with such a saw and how many people actually do it. I thought its just a tool to get some things done quick, like for me the slingshots, but then i've seen all those nice art done with it. Now i want to start making some of these fancy things. They make great gifts or even deco for my own home, workshop, car, whatever!

I hope to get plenty of useful information out of this forum and can talk to some nice people. If i found this earlier, maybe i would not have turned to tension screw in the wrong direction and had to trim down a saw blade cause i thought its just too long to get a good tension on it. That didn't work either i have to say! That won't happen again hopefully :P
