Title: Compound cuttings with Cedar

We had some steps and railings replaced on our cedar deck and there were several 2" (actually 1-3/4") 'cut-offs' left.  I would like to take this cedar (not aromatic cedar) and use it to cut some of Diana Thompson's compound cuttings.  Any thoughts or ideas?

Be sure and wear a dust mask, that cedar dust can be very toxic in your lungs, and it's no fun in your eyes either.

The grain may be a little loose so be prepared so the blade does not wander on you.
Watch for hidden checks/cracks.  Have your CA (super glue) glue handy in case.

I have also found cedar to be very fragile. It tends to break easily and fine details are tough to  maintain. And you need to watch how the grain matches the pattern. However it does have a lot of visual advantages.

Agree with the others I have used Ceder for compound cutting and do not recommend it.
Its to fragile and oh well.......... not advised MHO.
Lost too many cuttings to Cedar.
