My craftsman scroll saw will not srart unless I give it a good wack. Then it will start and run a few seconds then stop. I dont think its the motor because it runs those few seconds. Everything cord switch etc. looks good. Its out of warranty. Is there anything else I can do. I cant afford another saw. Thanks for any help.

Welcome to the forum! Chances are the switch has saw dust in it. Try blowing it out with compressed air. If that does not work, you will have to replace the switch.

When Mine did it I tore it apart and found out the hot wire (red) broke off the Veriable speed button just enough that it would come on start cutting and go off mid cut, so check that it could be your problem as well.... Good luck to you

yeah, check the switch and the wires. Be careful! Electricity is just nice from a certain distance.
Good chance to figure out the foot switches.

I just got a new switch. When I installed it the saw started right up. It ran for a few seconds then quit again. I hit it again it ran a bit then compleatly stopped. Anything else I can try.

Could be the brushes in the motor, you could take the motor in and get it checked out.

hmm, wiggle the cables, could be one of the cables.
The plugs to the switch are ok?
Again, be careful. It's electricity. Non visible until it's too late.
