Post by: jimbo on June 07, 2011, 08:55:50 pm
I must be really hard to drill a hole in some thing as it has taken 64 posts to tell me this, I must try it one day

Hey Jimbo, Is it true that drill presses run counter clockwise in the Southern Hemisphere? ::)

I know, Russ is going to kill me, but he's away right now! ;D

For me it is wood, painters tape, pattern, drill holes, then if needed packing tape.

How do you see the holes if you put packing tape over them?

I have never used packing tape on the bottom and have had very good results with most all of my projects.  I do use painters tape on top beneight the pattern.  Here's a not to do thing.  Was out of painters tape and decided to use good ole maskin tape.  Well I wud guess that our temps. being over 90 everyday caused the tape to leave behind a bit of the sticky!  Was very upset, but over-all I say LIVE N LEARN.  Later....  Danny  :+}

That is what I use all the time, Masking tape.  The cheapest I can find.  Mineral Spirits or paint thinner will take off the sticky very nicely.  Use clear shipping over the pattern if it starts to smoke or smell like smoke.  Use a awl or a old round blade to pokes holes.

I just completed a JIGSAW puzzle with 84 pieces.  I used the last of the PAINTERS TAPE in two strips and that was all I had, so thats when I decided to finish with Maskin tape.  Well as I got down to the grand finalle and hit the two strips of Painters tape I DID NOT have any STICKYS underneith like I was having with the Maskin tape....SO....I shall ALWAYS USE THE PAINTERS TAPE.
Live n Learn, but I also learn Bukoos of things in this Forum.  Love It....
