Hi Steve:
I have a question, just bought my router with fixed base table, but I've never used.
The instructions well in English, not Spanish, I translated using google translator, but I have a doubt.
the question is: Once installed on your base router, I have to make a single cut as needed, or I have to go phone sliding slowly to reach the desired depth, if you have a link where you can see how you use it I appreciate very much.
Thank you for your attention and greetings from Puebla, Mexico.
Hola Steve:

I'm using this: Messurement Tool (http://www.sautershop.de/products/Oberfraesen-Zubehoer/Einstellehre/Einstelllehre-GAUGE.html) to set up the router. That one messures up to 0.1mm (1/256") - the rest is trail& error. I always make some test cuts on an old piece of wood.
Be careful with that machine! Routers are one of the most powerful, but also most dangerous machines in the shop. Use a MickeyMouse (ear protection).

Thanks Dan, I'll have to see if my local sears catalog store can get it for me....remember the catalog stores...?
-
Rockler also carries the Trend depth gauge.
-
Dan, that's probably the same thing I'm using.
It's absolute simple but one of the best measurement tools for this.
@ Marcel sure its cheaper? the shipping would make it equal.

mama use to say: think before you speak!

This is the way I do it too...If you try to take too much off,,in certain woods, you'll see that you have torn spots out of the grain..All the router bits I have with conture cuts have a bearing on the end where you only have to worry about the depth ...Take your time,,make light cuts,,and you'll find out you wont have to sand much at all....
