Gave this a shot this morning. The idea intrigues me so had to do it. Didn't spend too much time with it as this will only hold my first million $$$. I'll do better with the next one as it will hold my next million $$$ ;D ;D
I see from the picture that I forgot to seal the inside of the drawer ... may just line it with felt.
-
Looks good to me.. Maybe one day I'll try it.. (laughing to self) .. You did a great job.... Sheila

It's a nice looking box Marion. It needs to be a lot bigger if it is going to hold your first million though!
-
good job Marion thanks for posting

Great job Marion, it may not hold a million but it sure as heck looks like one...

Great job and congratulations on your first bandsaw box. Can't wait to try one myself.

Good job, and a nice piece of cedar, if the rest is as good you made out like a bandit!

The box is very nice.
A few days ago I saw the video of how to do it on the blog of mere mortals, but works with other saws.
I wonder if you did with scroll saw or jigsaw for a different type of machine?
thanks in advance for your response

Good job. Looks good. I love making bandsaw boxes. Instead of felt, look into flocking. It's easy and inexpensive and a good way to finish off the inside of boxes with a nice appearance.
-
Will check into the flocking. Frank I am thinking of trying one on the scroll saw, just because...don't know if it will work as it will be small. My band saw will only allow me a 3 1/2 clearance so will be limited on the size of the boxes I make ( unless I can get that million $$$ !!!! ) Don't know if it was working with the cedar or if it is just seasonal allergy but I have been suffering after working with the cedar yesterday. I will have to mask from now on and make sure I have plenty of ventilation before I use it again. Just trying different things to pass the time.

Hey Marion, I have modified several bandsaw boxes to cut on the scrollsaw. You just have to cut it in layers. Takes a bit more sanding though.

Julie tell us how you did it, I've been thinking about that ever since the subject came up.
Maybe start a new thread with it in tips.

Looks great, nice work :)

Marion, that looks waaay better than my first bandsaw box. No amount of sanding in the world was going to save that disaster! :D

Mainewoods,
You have a point. Sometimes I think they should be called sanded boxes instead of bandsaw boxes because I spend more time sanding than cutting them.

That looks great! I picked up a book last night at the book store that is all about band saw boxes. Should be lots of fun!
