Remember two of the grand kids wanting "something Biblical"? The granddaughter got the cross, the grandson gets Noah's Ark, designed by Sheila Polhemus.
Funny story; while I was working on it, a new neighbor came by, stood in my shop doorway, and asked, "What ya making?" Without looking up, I said, "Noah's Ark. Want to help me start collecting animals?" He just quietly walked away. ;)

beautiful job, funny story also LOL.

Wow that is awsome.........Why is it when people ask a question you give an honest answer and they walk away.
That's to funny..

Looks cool Bill!
Now find someone at a petting zoo and have them bring two of each over and.... ;D

Excellent job on that Ark. I am sure that it will long be cherished. Thanks for sharing it with us.

Great job Bill, some of the critters look to be having fun as well. Lots of very fine detail I'm thinking you had to be very careful not to break it.
I'm just sitting here thinking up all the things this guy might be telling his wife or friends about the crazy guy building an ark in his little shop and looking for animals. Not enough room here for my wild imagination. LOL

One of the highlights of my day is logging onto this site and viewing the beautiful creations that people are willing to share with everyone...today is no exception. Very nice job Bill!

Looks great Bill. I'm gonna have to remember that story to scare the neighbors off. LOL

FRIGGIN' GORGEOUS!!! I am amazed at the detail with the cuts. Thanks for sharing, and giving me something to shoot for... ;D

Beautiful work Bill! Excellent detail. Guessing Oak? What dimensions on the project?
Each time you see that neighbour, make it a point look up at the sky like you're checking for rain! :D
-
Awesome job, I like it. Thanks for posting. :)

Thanks, everyone, for the kind words.
The Ark is cut from 1/2" oak. The plans call for 1/4" but I know a 10-year-old would break that too fast. I also know this will get broken, but I don't mind that, I love the kid.
It measures about 15" wide by 10" tall.
As for the new neighbor, I think he's pretty much figured I'm a half-bubble off from being plumb.

Howdy Bill....Gee....Wat I see is really so, so many fine cuts with so fragal detail cuts. I have mostly shied away from patterns with that type of detail. Maybe you could share how you cut all the different animals so life like. Would appreaciate your input. Do you use different blades for certain areas? Thanks for listening to me. Later.... Danny :+}
-
That is really nice. I like it alot.
-
Would you believe I used a #3 for the whole thing? I changed out blades about every 20 minutes.

Thanks Bill.... It never dawned on me to determine approx. how long those tiny teeth on the FD blades would last before becoming dull, but now from wat u said I have a starting point. I have messed up some delicate projects in the past which now I say is from trying to make a dull blade do the work. Thanks again.... Danny :+}

That is a beautiful piece!!!!! You have more than your share of patience!!! Loved the "zinger" for the neighbor.
I have seen that pattern before but can't remember where.
-
If the neighbor brings you a couple of skunks......JOKE IS ON YOU!!! :D :D :D

I guess I should explain, I wasn't trying to be rude to the new guy; I just couldn't look up from what I was doing, so I said something silly. I've since explained that to him and I've got a new friend....who thinks my elevator doesn't go all the way to the top.
