I just wanted to get everyone's attention so that we can forestall anything that might 'come back to bite us'!
Just be good "cyber-citizens' and warn others if you get an infection!

Twice now, when I have opened an image shack photo, I have gotten a warning about AV8 trojan virus. My anti-virus spyware says it is a fake and i have deleted it. But it does try to sell you something to remove it. I learned my lesson last year when this happened. I didn't panic and ran my own antivirus software and removed it.

Warning
I have removed the pictures/links to the images posted thru Image Shack of Malc's Tertius clock build after several complaints (me included) of Malware/Virus. Anyone who has viewed the pictures/links thru Image Shack should take precautions and check/scan there computer.
I believe the problem is Image Shack not Malc and have notified him to contact Image Shack of the situation.
So yes julief others have had the same problem.
I would be careful at this time viewing any pictures/links to Image Shack. If anyone else has problems with any other posts with Image Shack please let me know.

According to the Adobe forum, the AV8 virus is the reason that I cannot view any videos (I posted in the computer section of this forum.) Although I think I removed all of the components of this virus, it has either changed configurations in my computer or put up some kind of block. I have tried everything I know to do and to no avail. Any suggestions are appreciated. Otherwise, I guess I'll just have to wait for my son to visit (he is coming in a couple of weeks) to see if he can figure it out.

I had an advertisement load up in the background when I clicked on an image from image shack. I ran a scan and it found nothing, but I am not clicking any more image shack links. Thanks for pointing this out. I also seen something load that said TRIBALFUSION I am not sure what this is, but like I said my scan found nothing, and I am not having any video problems. I hope you get your video problem fixed Julief.

Yesterday was housecleaning day and i did the Registry cleanup, unnecessary files removal, complete virus and malware scans and defrag/optimize of three H/D's.....
machine was completely clean and no problems found in any area...4 different malware scans.
It pays to have 'upfront' protection and use a good browser!

The only illness I have picked up here is an unhealthy desire for more tools and wood. Does that count? My wife thinks it is an obsession.

Only an 'obsession' if you try to replace your wife with a Hegner or EX-30!

This is one of the best apps.I have found http://www.malwarebytes.org/
Download the free version, install it and run update. Then run the full scan. The AV8 virus is a particularly nasty one, it can turn off many anti virus programs and it hides itself deep in the hard drive.

Here a couple of Antivirus programs that are free and work really well for those members that may not have one or feels their's is not doing the job.
http://free.avg.com/us-en/download-avg-anti-virus-free (http://free.avg.com/us-en/download-avg-anti-virus-free)
http://www.malwarebytes.org/ (http://www.malwarebytes.org/)
One very important thing to remember is to keep your Antivirus updated and scan your computer often or if you can set your Antivirus to run automatically. If you are on the Internet allot visiting sites, exploring, etc I recommend scanning daily.
-
almost all those programs can be configured to run anytime on a regular basis...leave my machine on 24/7 and they scan at 3:00 a.m.!
