Title: ONE OF MY FIRST PROJECTS

let me show yall one of the first projects I made with my scroll saw.

I was a plaque for a co-worker of mine. (I collect tarantulas, and so does my friend. Can you tell)?

This was the finished cut on 3/4" pine. Later the edges were beveled, the wood was stained and laquered, and a black backing was added to it.

If you look closely, you will see a few of my beginner errors. I guess there is always room for improvement.

If you squint your eyes, you will see the image better. :)

Post by: Dawie on January 05, 2011, 04:22:13 am: I saw the spidy straight away. Nice piece of work, bet it looked great with the black backing. Did not spot your errors, but as you may find out we don't mistakes we just alter the pattern as one of our friends here keeps on reminding us.

I too saw the spider right away. Not hard to miss since I see them all the time around here.

Actually, yall were correct. I did make a "boo-boo" on the letter "O".

I had them connected very finely, but one of the connections broke. So for them to match, I dropped the center of the donut on both of them.

It looked all right, so I was OK with it.

I am still not too good with the scroll saw, so I was using Flying Dutchman, #2, Spiral Reverse, blades.

The #2 blade was kind of small for the 3/4" pine wood, but I went slowly, and it afforded me the opportunity to make all those fine points and details I wanted. Yea...I cheated and used the spiral reverse blades, but it made-up for my inexperiense with a regular 2-way cut blade.

I will get better with a few more projects.
