Title: Rockler Bladerunner
Post by: JJammo1 on December 29, 2010, 02:10:36 pm
Has anybody tried one of these Bladerunners yet?  It won't replace the scrollsaw by any means but a great addition to a small shop.  It will at least replace a couple tools I have and give me back a little space.  My wife told me to go ahead and order one but I'm holding off for now.  I'm sure tempted.  Would like to hear other opinions before I make the move. The price isn't bad.

I have only seen a picture of the Bladerunner, but it looks to me like you'd be very limited to size of stock you can cut with it being a stationary tool with only a 15"x17" table top.

I think you'd be better off buying a hand held Jig Saw if you don't already have one.

JJ, I saw the demo they had on on the Bladerunner down at Home Depot.  I wasn't too impressed.  A small band saw would do the same.

Looks like a 'glorified, upside down Jig Saw' to me....

I agree with Bill. A small band saw would do the same thing and be more versatile.  8)

I saw the ad on tv. It didn't really impress me that much. I think I would rather spend the money on wood or more blades. I don't really have the extra space for it right now anyway.

I caught part of the 'infomercial' last night (early a.m.) and was totally un-impressed!

Shallow throat, large blades and huge 'entry holes' if you could do inside cuts.

Would be alright for making birdhouses and stools but not much else in my opinion.

There are a lot of other tools I would buy before that!!!

Thats what I was thinking. Already have a bandsaw and an old jigsaw.  BUT, she did say buy it.  It is great for frames alone. But the space for it is designated for a new spindle sander. BUT, I do have the spindle attachments for my drill press. More reorganizing needed. Gotta have room to still get myself in there. Decisions, decisions!
