In another post you have a picture of your shop. Can you tell us about the filter you have next to your saw? http://stevedgood.com/community/index.php?action=dlattach;topic=3589.0;attach=4476;image

The shelf under the Scroll saw is interesting. Looks like the saw is built in. How do you change blades?

is it a whole lot better than the furnace filter I have taped nto the back side of my saw??

Thanks for asking.
I use a pleated filter as it works better than the real cheap ones and I can use my shop vac to clean it off periodically (weekly).
I didn't have a box fan I had the round fan on hand so I built a box around it to hold the filter. Some folks use a 20" box fan. You want the fan/filter to sit so the fan is blowing away from the saw. it really helps draw the fine sawdust out of the air into the filter.
I also made a small thing to store some blades that are close by while working on a project. This is attached to the top and I have a packet of small files hanging on the side below the blades.
The saw looks built in but it is actually surface mounted on top of the bench and it's raised 3 1/2 inches in the rear with the front sitting proud of the bench which makes it appear like it is built in in that photo. I think you may be able to see it better in this pic. This one is prior to painting.
What else would you care to know?

Thanks Dunk! Looks like somthing I might try!

It really does help keep the air clean in my shop. I also have a delta air cleaner but I don't need it when I'm just scrolling. Only when I fire up the table saw or band saw or am doing a bunch of sanding.

Hey Dunk....glad you could read what I meant NOT what I wrote. I meant of course that I tape a furnace filter to the back of a box fan and it blows away from the saw. Sometimes my brain and my fingers are not in sync.

Seyco sells a filter and brackets to install on a box fan. There is also a spray to put on the filter that is to make it filter better. It says it is washable. I use a box fan and the cheap filters. I should try the better filters.
