Does any one have plans for making a sanding mop? I have made one but I may not have enough sand paper on it

That's the one dg. the one I made was a bit thin as the mandrill is only a short bolt will look for something longer
Thanks mate

I does need to be very thick. I made mine and used a 4" bolt. There is aprox. 2 " of sand paper in the center and it flares out to aprox 3". Works great. 8)

Jimbo: as Russ said.
I made mine with 6 precut sheets of the orange paper from M10, with the intention of making it thicker later on.
No need, been going for about 2 months now and heaps of life left in it.

I bought my first one from Seyco. Paid 47.95 for it and loved it but didn't want to spend the $$$ on another one of different grit. I used a piece of all thread and stacked my sandpaper from there. I use it mostly to round and smooth the edges of my jigsaw puzzles. I couldn't do without it.

Pics of my home made sanding mop.
Thread on the mandrel 30mm (1-1/2 inch) 6 sheets of sandpaper cut 150x30mm (1-1/2x 6inches). Plenty room for more but not needed.
The polishing mop is 30 pieces of old bed sheet cut to 150mm (6inch) Dia.

Thanks Merlin and Julie I was on the rite track but a bit lean on the paper, I put it on the lathe today at around 2500 rpm,s and it all but disintegrated [to fast] I will try I will try a longer bolt and some different paper, I also want it for smoothing puzzles

Merlin, that is about the same way I made mine. I used a Carriage bolt instead of all thread (threaded rod). It works great. :)

POLOSHING MOP!!!! Never thought of that - guess what I'm making next. I usually put Howard's Feed-N-Wax on after finishing. It makes even the tightest of puzzle pieces move easily. Put it on - let is set a bit - the rub and rub and rub and rub and rub.....you get the picture.
