Title: Birthday Present
Post by: mainberg on September 06, 2010, 04:12:19 pm
Husband will be 83 this week. He has always had a love affair with steam engines. Even got to drive one a few years back. So, made this for him as a surprise. He is pleased.
It is a Dirk Beolman (sp?) pattern, oak, walnut, and maple. The clock case is filled with 2 circuit boards, a speaker, the clock work, batteries, and lots of wires.

You did a beautiful job with that!  The detail work is gorgeous and it sounds like it was pretty complicated to get it all together.  Congrats on a really nice clock.  (And happy birthday to your DH)

A very amazing piece of work, you made clock building into an art by the look of things. Thanks for sharing and hope you and your hubby have a super birthday. He must be happy to have such a talented wife.

Beautiful job on the train clock, My Wife's father was a train fancier also. He owned a couple of large steam engines and an actual full size sightseeing train that ran from Cadillac to lake City in Michigan.

Hey pat, you did an excellent job on the clock! Dirk does make some nice clock patterns. I made his Santa's Workshop clock a few years back. I will show it off around Christmas time.
Again, Excellent job!

No, Janet, he didn't cry, but he was speechless. Most unusual!!! Usually I will point out all the flaws, but just let it go this time.

Really appreciate all the kind words from everyone.

It's not hard to cut out, but a lot more pieces than I am used to dealing with, plus thickness I didn't have, so did have to glue wood together to have thicker pieces.
