With a lot of help from Ron, who made the patterns for me (thank you Ron), here are the portraits of the four guys who organized our golf league this year. These portraits will be a gift to them at the end of the season.
The pictures (cutouts) are done on 1/8" baltic birch and are about 5" X 7". They are mounted in 8" X 10" frames and finished with boiled linseed oil. Because the pictures are so small and have a lot of detail, I used a 4/0 blade and ran my Dewalt at a very slow speed.

Hey, you really did a nice job with those!

MikieD, where are you finding 4/0 blades? I'm looking for some 3/0 & 4/0 to do some inlay work on some really small boxes?
-
Terrific job on the cuttings Mike. And I am sure they will be pleased as well.

For Mr. Mike
I bought the 4/0 blades from a tool company called Gesswein (gesswein.com). They are a company that makes tools for the dental and jewelery trade. They have a catalog online and the scroll saw blades are listed. They have them available up to 9/0. I have used the 9/0 on some VERY small cut outs and when cutting veneer. The 4/0 blades are $24 for a gross.
Hope this helps,
Mike

Just wondering if you used a spiral blade at all for any of the portraits.I never did my self.So right now I am in the questioning phase.Dave

Hi Dave,
No, I haven't had much luck controlling the spiral blades. Perhaps it is the thin stock that I use. The 4/0 blades make it easy to do this kind of detail and I run my saw at a slow speed.
