Title: Hi, New Member, Franklin, IN
Post by: kb9ldk on February 18, 2020, 12:11:35 pm
Just recently retired. So I thought I would try my hand at scroll saw projects. Home Depot had the Excalibur 21 on sale so I thought I would take a leap of faith and purchase it.    Its not the Excalibur I remember,, as they are now made in china. Once I got it set up on its stand, I had to adjust the saw table to center the blade, then I had to loosen the motor and adjust for minimal vibration.  I am happy with the saw so far. Blades are the next thing I have to figure out,,,  whats good, whats not,  Steve, your site is a real blessing. Thank you for all you do.  I did attach a pic of my first project, the double bowl.

Welcome Newbie,  My name is "Al"  from Calif.  I've been scrolling for about 38 years and as far as Scrollsaw blades go I've tried them all. Most of the well-known names are excellent blades, but I find myself going back to the Olson PGT blades every time. Maybe it's because I've used them so long and know what to expect, or whatever, they are my favorite.

Welcome to  the forum.  Not sure where Franklin is [will look it up as I grew up on the IN IL border} I heard there was a nice place to get wood for scrolling near Brazil Indiana.  Have you been there?  Thinking about making a drive over to take a look.

Hi, I am in Mount Juliet.  Nice to have a friendly neighbor.  I found that Pegas blades work best for me.  I use Pegas except for their #2 which seems to break under very slight tension.  I'm going to buy some Olson #2s for a trial.  However, I generally use Pegas #3 anyway for 99% of my cutting.
