Hi, I posted earlier about a Burl I received from a friend of mine, he is a logger/woodsman. I would like to make something for him out of the burl, which I have not been able to cut yet because my motor burned up on my band saw. I have a new motor ordered, should be the first week in August. Anyway I was wondering if anyone had an idea what to make for someone who is a logger. It doesn't necessarily have to be a box. Just looking for ideas.
Thanks Mark

Hi Mark,
I didn't know what a Burl was, so I Googled on images.
I see tha burl's have very nice grains.
Steve has some nice things on his blog:
perhaps a bowl http://www.stevedgood.com/concentricbowl.pdf (http://www.stevedgood.com/concentricbowl.pdf)
It is a quite big pice, but have you thought about some smaller items like a cube puzzle
Steve has a video for "a cube within a cube" on his blog.
maybe you should do some intarsia with it. gives you a lot more posibillitys.
as said, I google on images for ideas.
I find some pictures on google using "intarsia logger" or "intarsia burl":
