A couple of Sue Mey turtles for a co-workers wife's Christmas presents. Cut from 1/8" Baltic Birch plywood glued to a Masonite backer. Spray painted them a dark green before removing the pattern to color the grooves.

I had not heard of spraying with the pattern still attached - good idea. Were you trying to get the sides of the cut areas colored? Did that also color the Masonite or was that painted before mounting?

Yes, I was trying to get the sides of the cut colored and it also covered the Masonite at the bottom of the cuts, covering any glue that was visible at the bottom of the grooves.
