FYI. This shows that I am 8 years older than my actual age. Apparently dirt wasn't invented yet at that time.

Wow that is crazy I am 38 and have hearing of that of a 59 year old, that tells you how importmant wearing hearing protection is and the fact of not listening to loud music to deafing volumes when your young. Its at the point now I have constant ringing in my ears and now really set it off doing that test.

Hi Dan26,
Well Friend, your Mother never told you that life would be easy. So what if you are losing hair, eyesight is failing and you sure as heck can't type. Whatever happens next depends.......

Yea should have listened to my mother when she told me not to listen to my music so loud.

I didn't take the on-line test but can tell you - without a word of any doubt - that the best indication that your hearing is "going" is your wife and kids ....... and they are the only ones to listen to ......
..... been wearing my new aids for a couple of months now ..... she's happy .... I'm happy .....

85... >:( I knew it was bad but did not realize it was that bad. Guess I should make my wife happy and go get the ears checked.

Not there yet, thank God!

I wouldn't put much faith into this test. Its results are highly dependent on your audio equipment's ability to reproduce high frequency, and the typical computer-based audio gear is woefully lacking.
I ran the test twice: first with speakers, second with a headset. In the first test, my hearing was equivalent to an 82 year old, in the second it was equivalent to an 89 year old. In the first test I stopped hearing the tone when the frequency got up to 5.6 kHz.
I am 77. I know that I don't hear as well as when I was 20; at that age the horizon sweep oscillator on a TV set used to drive me nuts - its frequency was 15.5 kHz. Back then I had been tested professionally and could hear up to 18 kHz. It has been years since I heard ANY TV's oscillator.
So this is fun, but it is entertainment *only*!
