I have been thinking that making our member's location public would be a good idea. Quite often knowing the general area would help - electrical questions is one area that comes to mind.
I believe that your location is an optional field in the public profile so I'd like to suggest that each member make his/her approximate location available to the rest of us. For example. Chicago, North Dakota, Saskatchewan, New Zealand, Scotland would be sufficient.
Let's start including the location in our profile. It could also be added to the signature.

Edit - I added my location to my signature (below)

;) Per your suggestion I added my location to my public profile....

I always like to know what area people are from. Good suggestion.

If I knew where I was, I'd probably move.

The village idiot needs tutoring. Went to my Profile. How/where do I make a change? i.e. Add my location. (It is currently in my home office, sitting at our computer.)

Jerry there are two places to put it if you want it to show on your posts: click: "Profile" button above;
on the drop down click "forum profile" and add in where it says "personal text" or you can add it as part of you signature.
If you don't want it to appear when you post something you can just add it where it say "location" then it will only be seen by someone that looks at your profile.

I added my location to my signature. I think it's in my profile already.

I like the idea of showing where we are. Might even help some of us to find a scrolling buddy nearby.
-
I like the idea, helps when answering questions from the forum.
-
Yep, good idea, it has always been there beside my name and proud to be from Beautiful Southern Oregon.
-
Could I also suggest that no abbreviations be used because we don't all live in the USA so we don't know what your abbreviations stand for.

You forgot to mention the desert part, maybe you haven't been to Hermiston or Boardman! Most people don't like that kind of scenery. I live in the Washington desert about 40 miles from Hermiston. I like it but I have lived here all my life.

I was stationed at Kingsley Field, Klamath Falls, Ore. for four years back in the early 1960's.
The base sat on a 6 mile square "table top" of lava from all the surrounding old volcano's. It was so bad that the government had to import dirt just to grow grass, BUT I LOVED OREGON in general. :)
