Title: Clocks at Shows
Post by: Toneman on August 05, 2014, 09:50:24 am
I sell mostly crosses, ornaments, and wall hangers at craft show but was thinking about adding some clocks to my inventory. Do clocks sell good at arts and crafts shows and if so, what type? Now, I am not talking about fancy fretwork clocks with hours of cutting involved; just simple ones with subject related themes such as animals, transportation, etc. Thanks in advance for your comments.

I sold a few of these clocks. Not at shows, but for people that asked me to make them for gifts.
I've attached the patterns for anyone to use if you like.

Here's a sample photo. You can substitute just about anything you like in the center as long as it fits I don't have a picture of the dove or cross, but I have them in patterns.

Should you need a bit larger "wall type clock", feel free to copy my design for what I call my "Shop Clock".
I cut them out of 3/4" thick plywood and the hardest part is routing out a square in the back for the clock works.
I usually spray the back side with black paint and try to get paint into the inside of the numbers and around the outside edges of the clock face and then sand the face and spray with polyurethane.
Once you make a pattern it is a fairly easy one to cut out and they seem to be fairly popular if you can get some nice grain for the face.

PS, Mine measure abut 11" in diameter. That seems to be about right for a wall clock.

I really like the football clock that Steve has...easy to make and you can paint them for any football team colors...
