Title: New member intro
Post by: Turner2232 on June 30, 2014, 09:57:42 pm
Hello!  I just now found your site. I bought a dewalt scroll saw a couple weeks ago from craigslist and  I had to order a couple parts which came in today.  I'm excited to finally get a scroll saw that works well and can't wait to give it a try.  Can anyone offer suggestions for a newbie like me?  I have a lot of experience in wood turning but I just wanted to try something new.  Thanks in advance!
Bill

Welcome to a great forum.  There is a pretty good thread here just started a week or so ago, that asked that question.  You might want to check it out:

Hi and welcome to the forum.  I'm Julie from Texas.  Glad you found us.  To get started, get a piece of wood and start cutting.  Most people on this forum are self taught.  It just takes some good blades and some practice.  When I'm teaching someone to start, I usually have them take a piece of wood and draw some lines on it.  Straight lines, curved lines, zig-zag lines.  Try cutting these with some accuracy.  Change the speed and blades to get a feel for what feels right to you.  Never be afraid to ask questions here.  We all started somewhere.
