Title: pattern maker comments please
Post by: daveo on June 13, 2014, 12:05:09 pm
IS THIS GOOD ENOUGH
The subject is Emma Jayne, she died at a young age from a brain Tumour. Since her death her parents have relentlessly raised money in her name to support the Neuro-surgical unit at the Infirmary, so much so that they have just been awarded the BEM "British Empire Medal" for there efforts
So this is why it needs to be right, we intend to present her parents with the portrait at next months charity walk
as they do not know about this I have had to work with the website logo of which is only a thumb nail
any comments appreciated
Dave

I think it is good down to below the nose.  Her jaw line in the picture is fuller, more rounded.  I just think you need to give a little more fullness to the bottom portion of her face.  Just my impression.

Dave - maybe this forum distorted the pattern, but the image looks too tall and skinny to me. Some of the graphics I've seen here have that distortion to them, or maybe you have the pix/inch different in the X and Y directions?

I would remove the shadow on the right side of the picture (around her left left ear). It is the result of a camera mounted flash that was turned sideways - just delete it in the pattern.

pattern looks nice, but seems that the face is smaller then in the picture.
what method or program did you use?
I would try to remove the shadow first.

I don't have coyote software, but would try that....
I did remove the shadow for you.

Dave - here's another shot at it. Somehow when I do kids, they often wind up looking like teenagers. I think it's from the process or my own removing of childhood chubbiness. In this case I cut back on the double chin. I don't know if the parents would like it, but I suspect that this is how Emma Jayne may have looked in her early twenties. If you can use it, be my guest.

WELL FIRST OF ALL THANKS TO ALL
As far as the distortion is concerned that must of happened in the conversion/posting stage, as it is not like that on the svg, and I didn't view it after posting.
As for the shadow "What a plonker am I" I never even saw it all I saw was a small picture with white background and just assumed it was part of the hair. I am so glad I asked the question, and thank you guys for pointing it out.
here's version 2 for comment

That looks better. You might take a shot a rounding the top of her head a bit - it looks kind of flat.
