Title: Rusty Nails

I have heard that a solution of vinegar and salt will turn nails rusty and old looking; does this work?  If so does any one have any experience using this method?  Any suggestion as to what the best ration of salt and vinegar?

At first, I thought you wanted to CLEAN UP rusty nails and was going to suggest using "EVAPO-RUST".  ;D
Then I realized that you must have newer nails and are looking to MAKE them look old.  In that case, I would just soak them in salt water for a day or so and then toss them into an old tin can to dry out for a few days. Yes it will take some time (maybe a week) but, believe me they WILL get rusty!  ;D ;D

Are they the old style "cut" nails?

Thank you guys, have plenty of nails to try all three, salt water, Pepsi and the vinegar.salt mix.  The nails are what I think are called tacks and they are dark blue or black color.
