I am low on belts for my Porter-Cable belt sander - 4"x36". The local woodworking shop had that size belts but wanted $6.99 each. They had boxes of (10) 4x24" for $20.
On-line, Peachtree Woodworking sells 4x36" at (5) for $10 ($2 ea).
Why such a big difference? Any thoughts?

It has been my experience over the years that the woodworking shops have a huge markup!
On stuff like sanding paper and shop supplies, you get the exact same thing else where for 1/2 the cost.

Check Klingspor http://www.woodworkingshop.com/
They have good quality belts, prices and service. That is where I get my belts now. :)

I buy the 6X48 belts from Peachtree every year at the wood show. If they are the same material, I can say that they are top quality. Unless you gum them up they really last.

From personal experience I avoid the belts from Harbor Freight.
Bought my last supply from Peachtree and have been well satisfied.

Good feedback.
I ordered (5) each of (3) different grades from Peachtree. Total was $38.99 (3 sets @ 5 for $10 + 8.99 shipping). I have high hopes.

I just purchased a supply of sanding belts and spindles from woodworkingshop.com (Klingspor) because I like their sand paper so well. I am very happy with them. I don't know how they compare pricewise with Peachtree.

I buy most of my sanding supplies from Klingspor.

I haven't bought any for a while but had good luck from a vendor on ebay. Got my 6x48 a lot cheaper.
