I made ten of these 4 1/2" x3/8" crosses to be hung on a rear view mirror. Folks here in West Texas collect crosses so these should sell easily. I was given a small piece of Lace-wood so I used it to make these. Tung oil and spray on clear finish.

Excellently done Jim. I agree that they should go fast. Thanks for sharing this with us.

nice job, nice wood choice grain/color.

I like those. How did you make the "chip" marks?
-
Not chip marks. That is the natural pattern in the wood.

I haven't seen all that much lace wood but I've never seen any with a pattern that large. It is very striking. I agree that you will probably sell them quickly.

I love the wood Jim, I honestly thought that you had just bashed it with a hammer a few times to get the pattern. Great work as always Jim.

I have seen this wood called leopard wood also and parts of the same board are figured like this is and some parts of it are figured the same pattern but larger pattern. Spread out a lot. Both are very pretty.

Jim how big is that? If you do that small enough, it would make a beautiful necklace.

It is 4 1/2" tall and 3/8" thick. I gave this to a friend and he wears it around his neck. I intend to sell them as something to hang on a car mirror.

Very nicely done, and a great idea. I will need to do some of these for my next show.
