My local Woodworking Group, Central Indiana Woodworkers, is having a contest among its members to see who can make the best item from their shop that makes music. The prizes are Rochler gift cards. I want to make the item on the scrollsaw. If anyone has any ideas to help I would appreciate. Right now I am leaning toward wind chimes. Flutes and stringed instruments were also mentioned. Any ideas or plans fellow scrollsawyers???

You might try some Tongue Drums, They are fairly simple to make.
And then there are Train whistles.

What about a cigar box guitar? I seen a vid of a guy make one of these and thought it was cool, you keep the cigar box intact being careful not to rip off the paper covering it.

Heres a couple of ideas - oft these pics from overstock
I use to be a woodshop teacher years ago -and ive made countless Kalimbas
use to use old metal leaf rake metal spokes ( probably find them in the trash on garbage days )
and as an experiment i made a Zylophone ( kinda like this one )
one nice thing about kalimbas is that by leghtening the metal spoke you change the tone ,
and you can use as many spokes as you want -for more notes .
the one in the you tube video didnt sound that good to my ears -
I think the garden rake spokes work better !
