Title: another take on glider/tug
Post by: gilljc on March 07, 2014, 01:33:26 pm
pattern by EIEIO  with a couple of tweaks (not better and not much different)
cut the glider wings with mach3 and 2/0 straight blades and most of the rest with 2/0 spiral blades
poor quality pics i'm afraid - looks better that way  ;)

very nice work there, it's bringing back memories of when I used to go flying in gliders.

Well from reading your earlier post concerning cutting a straight line using a Spiral and now looking at the finished product I would say it looks Great from the picture.
     Well done my friend.  I am not a Spiral person, altho Mike got me thinking of trying them again with his New Fangle Super Duper Spiral blade.  Danny  :+}

Looks good Gill.

Your two guys came out good. And nice work on the glider wings - that are very fine and the kind of think that can catch the eye if the straight lines have some wiggle (which yours do not).

One suggestion - You might think about adding some green or blue/green watercolor wash to the top edges of the mountains to help define them a bit. Test first with a scrap piece and cut something like the mountain background, then wet-on-wet (wet just the mountains with water, let it sit a minute, then dab watercolor paint into their upper edges) - the color will bleed down from the top and should give the impression of depth and distance.

thanks all, and especially for the pattern, have managed to disguise the 'blobs' on the treeline, so going to get it sanded and lacquered and think about framing.  :)
Have absolutely no 'artistic' skill at all, but was chatting with friend at weekend who does watercolours, will get together with him and have a dabble
