Title: blades
Post by: john keenum on March 04, 2014, 04:53:08 pm
i have a craftsman scroll saw and enjoy cutting names out of 2x4 pine. The only blades around town is at Lowes, I like the bosch .70 18.5 tpi but they do not last long. And only like to use pinned blades. Is there any where i could order blades online for this type of work? THANKS

Mikesworkshop.com has lots of blades, the pin less blades are better, his brand is flying dutchman are a good brand. I also used those bosch blades from lowes and while good to start with or use as a back up they didn't last long and I was always breaking them. Sears also has scroll saw blades.

You welcome, the pinless blades are better since they are smaller and thinner, you can get more delicate intricate cuts with pinless. And shippping from mikes is pretty fast I can place a order and with in a few days I have the blades in my mailbox. I have yet to go back to the bosch or craftsman blades I have, but plan on keeping them to use as back up, or use those if I choose to make a sanding mop rather than use my good flyingdutchman blades. Though I think the craftsman blades are a little better then the bosch, but by ordering the blades from mike you get more for money and cheaper in the end.

John - I just ordered 1/2 gross of #12 blades from Mike just for cutting heavy stuff. I use 1.5" red oak for toy cars and those blades work just fine. They would make short work of a pine 2x4 if you don't need to make tight turns. He'll send you a couple for free to try out if you ask nice. :)

He also has a sampler pack to buy that has think 5 blades of different types to try, I my self use the #1 reverse very everyday stuff less than 1/2inch thick, and use a #1 ultra reverse for my 1/2 thick and both suit me very well, be each will have different liking to a blade selection, when I got mine I bought a dozen of each to try and loved them, though I have been looking at trying some others he has, but do like the reverse blades.
