Anya Plaque
Found this pattern that looks a lot like my cousins furbaby Anya . Cut this for her birthday later this month. Cut from ? in. Poplar backed with 1/4in maple ply. Stained with Colonial Pine and then finished with shellac.

Spoon Rest
Found 4 of these olive wood mini cutting boards in the HomeGoods store in our area and turned one of them into this spoon rest. It has been finished with shellac.

Those are both really cool. I especially like the coloring on the plaque, makes it pop.

Looks nice. You said you used Shellac for the spoon rest? Let me know how that works over time. For kitchen items like cutting boards and spoon rests I have been using mineral oil. Just a suggestion.

It will work ok. Since the spoon rest is just that it will be fine with shellac I seriously considered Olive Oil for that but was concerned that the glue might come debonded due to the wood being so thin. Mostly I think that this spoon rest has a more decorative function than one in use for the kitchen although it certainly can be used there.

Nice job with the stain. I thought it was wood burning when I 1st looked. The highlight in the eyes came out great.

Nice job on both items!
