Post by: hotshot on December 27, 2013, 07:27:36 pm
For those of you intimidated by metal, you can do this in wood.  You can wear your work. . . ------Randy

Looks great! I think I am intimidated by cutting something so small with so much detail!

Nice work.  That would be a challenge indeed.

I will cut monsters like the Dr Who portraits that I did but there is no way I would cut anything that small.  So it goes to show we are all good at our individual gifts.  Another fantastic cut, they get better and better all the tme.

Hi Randy:
It's not the material that I'm impressed with
it's the details and the size.
Well done

Excellent work, but I think the wood has the strength of metal.
Thanks for sharing your wonderful talent.

Hi Randy. Mind if I ask what size and type of blade you used? Cheers, Barry.

Nice cutting HS. Have to have a good eye and steady hand to cut that small. What do you do for a jig to hold the coin? Impressive work.

To answer a few of the questions, for blades, I'm using 3/0 jewlers blades from Mike (Flying Dutchman) but also use blades from Sloans on some projects.  I have used all the way down to 0/8, but those are tricky.  I have not been using a jig or anything else lately, just holding it by hand.  On smaller coins, I have to use superglue to attach them to wider piece of wood that I can grip.
