Title: Victorian Cross.... :+}
Post by: Danny on December 20, 2013, 05:17:54 pm
Hi all....  This Cross will test your ability to cut Curves and turning the blade on a dime. Quickly
I cut 2 up with BB 1/4".  Think I should of cut one up on a Thicker Stock.  To late!  Did cut a backer for both.  Was fun cutting it once I got my confidence up.  Danny  :+}

Beautiful job, Danny,
I don't really think that beautiful work needs a backer but, that's just my opinion.
God Bless! Spirithorse

Nice cross and nicely cut, Danny. I think I would want a couple hours practice before attempting that. How long is it?

Martin.

Looks good Dan.  I cut this a couple of years ago and did you thicker wood. Came out good.  Gave it to friend in Illinois.

THANKS TO EVERYONE FOR YOUR KIND WORDS....

About Turning on a Dime....  Learned with practice (much) to NOT try to turn the blank FAST.
When I come to the end of the POINT area I slightly pull back the blank towards the point.
Then turn the wood SLOWLY while holding back.  No hurry here.  Get all exactly in line to come back and proceed.  Works same with turning 90's.  I MAINLY cut my projects using BB stock.
Stacked up to my comfort of 1/2"l.  And TO ME the MAIN thing that assures me a Great Cut is using....................FD-UR #1 Blades............................  Another 2 cents....Danny  :+}
