I have heard about peeling it that way. If you ask me, as long as the damn thing gets in my stomach, I don't care how I peeled it :)

peel a banana?
I dont like to waste food.

Most chefs will tell you that is the best way to peel the banana.
It leaves very few of those annoying stringy things and the peeling usually comes of in 2 or 3 clean pieces which you can hold by the stem and pitch.
I keep a small, very sharp paring knife on my counter and use that to 'nick' the skin and just give it a tug and away I go.
