Getting ready to start cutting the Firefighter pattern that Steve made for a charitable golf outing. I have cut the blanks. 6 out of walnut, and 1 out of cherry. I also changed the pattern a little. Mostly the maltese cross. I removed the ladder & plug. I added a axe and pike pole crossed on one side, the other side I drew in the snake & staff, for EMS. The fallen brother, his name is Trey, on 3 of them I have a copy of his first name that goes on top of the cross, and his badge number #300 on the bottom. I'm going to make 3 of those, 1 for his parents, 1 for his daughter, and the last one for his brother. Then the other 4 will be THFD on top of the cross, and FIRE-EMS on the bottom, these will be raffled off. I'll try to get pics to ya when I'm done. Dave 8)

I am sorry to hear that the FD community has a fallen brother. I am sure the family will be proud to have your cuttings. Post pics when you get them done.

Dave, as a former Volunteer Firefighter I have a great appreciation for what the FF's do and give for their fellow man!
Thanks for the remembrances!
Any time I run into a Firefighter, grocery store, civic celebration or wherever I approach and extend my hand and say, "Thank You for what you do" and they all seem to genuinely appreciate that small gesture.
Sure wish EVERYONE would do it! They deserve it.

I've thought about taking cookies to the local fire dept sometimes but I wonder if they'd eat them... I'm technically a stranger.

So sorry to hear of a fallen brother, Trey.
Firefighters run forth into the fire, to fight, nozzle in hand to battle the flames.
Firefighters fight for the life of someone else. Forever remember there names.
Firefighters do it for the passion, the flame inside, that burns with in there soul.
Firefighters battle the flames, the smoke, the heat. To bring out the one,,,alive,,,whole.

Janet: Firefighters always like someone expressing their thanks. I think some people think we always hear or see or get the little gifts (thanks) all the time. But , We do it to help our fellow man. There is a willing, wanting, passion to help others inside every firefighter. The smile on someones face says it all. Like Dave said , I haven't seen a firefighter yet that could pass on a plate of cookies. Take a plate to them and see how they will be your best friends forever. LOL.

I have that movie about 9-11 that the French filmakers' made. You firefighters are a rare breed. Those men climbing those stairs with all that equipment trying to save those people. Incredible.
I watch that movie still every so often. I read the book also... I can't remember the title. But the man who lost all his employees that day wrote it. The only reason he survived was because he was taking his son to kindergarten.
I am eternally grateful for firefighters... more than ever after seeing that movie. Thank you Rightarm :)

Firefighters all over the world do a great job, you guys must have the same fire in your blood. Sorry to hear about your fellow FF. Looking forward to seeing your work.
