(3rd or 4th try at posting this, maybe it wasn't meant to be. :)
Been cutting this on and off for a couple of weeks and finally finished today. Cheap 6mm plywood, 13.75" long by about half that in height. I'm not very happy with it, but I learned quite a lot while I was cutting it.

I can't imagine why you're not happy with it, I would be. Thanks for showing it!

Hi Martin, typical scroller, too self critical. That's a lovely job you've done on that loco, absolutely superb. I doubt if I would have enough patience for that, probably throw it down to the bottom of the garden halfway through, but that's just my age. :D :D :D :D :D :D :D

Newfie, the pattern is from an old (1991) Patrick Spielman book that I picked up in a charity shop.
Rob Roy, the wife always tells me I'm my own worst critic. If we had a garden, it would have been at the bottom of it a couple of weeks ago. ;D Patience wasn't a problem as I only spent about 30 minutes at a time on it and left it alone for days at a time. I've no patience either. :)
Cheers, all. :)
Martin.

;D Five minutes before I sat at the computer, I finished framing it and hanging it on the wall. I found an old frame in a charity shop and backed it with black card.
Oops, I hope those marks above the 'smoke' are on the glass becaue I glued the train to the black card.

Looks great! Frame compliments the cutting. Gotta love those charity shops for picture frames.

ya know Marty I think a lot of us aren't satisfied with a project we cut because we are so self critical. I tell myself a couple of things. Number one when you are cutting a pattern you are usually looking at it under magnification so every little imperfection looks like a huge gouge. Secondly the person you give the project too isn't going to notice that you strayed off a line here or there or over cut a space. They are not going to be looking at every last little detail. They are going to be overwhelmed by the time and care you took to make something for them and they'll treasure it forever. Your old loco looks great so just sit back and enjoy the compliments and take pride in a project well done.

Terry
